The Story Behind This Documentary
I have been a journalist for a Chinese newspaper for over 15 years. Through countless interviews, I’ve realized that I am the one most deeply blessed—learning from the wisdom and experiences that people generously share. That is why I want to pass on what I have learned through this documentary film, especially to the next generations. My own children, for example, don’t have grandparents, uncles, or aunts living in this country, so I hope this film can help fill that gap.
I also want to share the unique and almost magical experience of interviewing people. It is one of the most powerful ways to build a loving and meaningful connection between interviewer and interviewee. Listening itself is an act of love and respect, and when thoughtful questions are asked, the answers open the door to profound insights.
My hope is that this film will inspire you to broaden your perspective on life, identity, and history across nations.

Feedback from Viewers
Stories of identity, hard work, love, and sadness put real faces to the events that Taiwan has experienced, which made this film much more than a simple history documentary. Putting the people at the forefront of this film is what allowed for building an organic understanding of what I now see to be a very beautiful culture, while still letting the unique perspective of each interviewee be heard.
